Procedure for Holding a Legally Compliant IEP Meeting:
- All members of student’s IEP team must be invited. Please check in SchoolSmart to ensure all interested parties have received PWN for meeting. PWN must go out at least 2 weeks prior to the meeting date.
- Student’s legal guardian must be invited. If guardian is not able to attend, parent may delegate a proxy to act on his/her behalf. Proxy must show Power of Educational Attorney in order to act in the place of the guardian.
- If holding an evaluation rather than an annual review, all necessary reports must be completed and entered into SchoolSmart at least one week prior to the meeting. All interested parties should be sent all relevant reports at least three days prior to the meeting. If reports are not received by a concerned party, that party has the right to request a rescheduling of the meeting.
- Keep in mind OTs only work at Valerie High in the morning. Please schedule meetings requiring OT attendance accordingly.
- If parent is inviting legal representation to the meeting, school staff must be informed at least ten days in advance. If notice is not given, meeting must be rescheduled with appropriate notice.
- Remember students being considered for LD diagnosis need at least 3 months worth of progress monitoring data.
