When taking this exam, there will be a set MCAT score release date. One nice thing about the MCAT is that you will know the exact score release date.

In general, you can expect your score to be released about 30 days following your exam on a Tuesday or Wednesday by 5:00pm EST.

MCAT Registration Dates Information

When considering MCAT registration dates, it is important to remember that there are 3 different deadlines for each MCAT test date. Those deadlines are:

• 60-Day Deadline
• 30-Day Deadline
• 10-Day Deadline

Registration for the MCAT can take place earlier than 60 days. Registration for January-June 2024 MCAT dates opens on October 24th, 2023. Registrations for July-September MCAT dates opens February 2024.

The standard registration fee is $335, regardless of when you schedule (as long as it is 10 days before). The biggest difference between these deadlines is the fee you are charged when you change your test date or testing center.

No changes are allowed less than 10 days before the exam. All deadlines are at 11:59 p.m. local test center time.

How to Register for the MCAT

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), “you are eligible to take the MCAT exam if you are planning to apply to a health professions school.”

To register for the MCAT, follow these steps:

1. Create an account on the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website before registration opens.
2. Keep track of your username, password, and security questions.
3. Provide the personal information needed, ensuring that the data you provide matches the government-issued ID you intend to use as identification on the day of your test.
4. Remember that after you’ve filled out all the personal info, you’ll be allowed to register for a test date and pick your preferred location.
5. Click on “Find Seat” to see what’s available at your chosen location.
6. If there are seats available, you can register for that test date. If not, search for other locations until you find an open seat.
7. Keep in mind that you’ll need your credit card information to pay the registration fee. The standard registration fee is $335.

Choosing Your MCAT Test Date

When you take the MCAT depends on a few different factors, which you can determine by asking yourself some questions:

• Are you planning to apply for med school after your fourth year of college, or are you planning on taking a gap year?
• How much preparation time do you think you’ll need?
• Have you completed all the courses that will be on the MCAT?

Ideally, you should choose a date that allows you to have plenty of time to study. You’ll also need to determine when the MCAT score release date is so you can submit your score early in the medical school application process.

If you take the MCAT the spring of your junior year, you’ll have time to retake the MCAT in the summer or following fall, if necessary.
