Important LSAT Dates to Keep Track Of
There are some important dates you will want to keep track of when choosing your test date. Those dates include:
- LSAT Registration Deadline: The last day to register for the exam.
- LSAT Scheduling Date: The date in which you can schedule your actual exam. You will be sent an email when this opens up, it is typically 1-month prior to your test date.
- LSAT Writing Open Date: The first date you can start the writing portion of the exam.
- LSAT Score Release Date: The date in which your score will be released.

You can register for the exam by creating a LSAC online account. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the registration deadline. Make sure you are registered before the deadline for the specific test date you are interested in.

You have 2 different options when it comes to test locations:

If you decide to take the exam online, you will need to make sure you meet all the system requirements.
When Should I Take the LSAT?
Most law schools require that applicants take the LSAT by December if they plan on enrolling in the following fall.
However, it’s best to schedule your LSAT date earlier. This allows you some room for error in case you need to take the exam again to raise your score when applying to law school.
Another thing to consider is any application deadlines for your particular law school. Law schools have different deadlines, so it is important to keep those in mind when scheduling your test date.
Lastly, you will want to ensure you give yourself enough time to study. Plan to spend 200–300 hours total studying. It may take some individuals 3 months to study and other individuals 5 months to study. It all depends on how much time you can dedicate to studying. on LSAT prep over 2-3 months.
