How to Study for Your Driver’s Permit

In the United States, in order to get your driver’s license you must pass a learner’s permit test, wait a specified amout of time, have a set amount of supervised driving, and pass a road driving test. These specifications will vary by state, so make sure to understand your state’s specific DMV regulations.

Each state has it’s own learner’s permit written test. The number of questions will vary from 20 to 50 questions. In addition, the passing grade also varies from 70% to 90%. Although the difficulty of the DMV permit test may vary from state – one thing is a constant – the failure rate is approximately 70%!

Many new drivers make the same mistakes when preparing for the driving permit exam – they either fail to study enough, or they waste an incredible amount of time trying to memorize the DMV driver’s handbook (which can be over 100 pages). Test-Guide.com’s DMV permit exam prep is designed to help you focus your study time by presenting practice test questions straight from the source – the DMV driver’s handbook.

Preparing for Your Permit Test – Use Permit Practice Tests

Most first time drivers do not know how to study for these tests. Others become overwhelmed with the amount of information that they think they must know. Permit practice tests are a great way to help you study. A permit pretest (or practice test) will help you evaluate what you already know and what you need to work on. Using sample questions also helps you get accustomed to the format of the test so that there are no surprises.

The best way to study for your learner’s permit test is to review the information in your state’s drivers manual. Make sure that you concentrate only on the areas that you are required to. For example, if you are not planning on riding a motorcycle, do not waste your time with the motorcycle section.

After you have studied the DMV driver’s handbook, you are then ready to take a practice permit test. Test-Guide.com’s free sample permit tests will help you in your preparation. Our practice tests do not require any registration and will be scored immediately. Even better, your score report will include a complete explanation of all of your wrong answers.

We provide multiple sets of practice tests to help you become accustomed to the types of questions you will see on the actual DMV permit exam.
